We all know about the earth’s moon, but did you know that we had another one? Every once in a while, little space rocks that are called NEOs (Near Earth Objects) fly close by and get caught in our gravitational pull. They are super small in comparison to the normal moon, so we need a telescope to see them. The one that I am talking about though is 2024 PT.
2024 PT is a horseshoe-shaped asteroid that was temporarily caught in our orbit and was not able to do a full rotation around us because it left earth’s orbit before it could. These captured asteroids are called mini moon episodes because they basically become a moon for a bit, but most don’t complete a full rotation. These moons dont last for long and this one is long gone by now
