When I think of celebrities I think of athletes, actors, singers, dancers, and content creators. But have you thought about how some of your favourite celebrities might be Jewish. I’m sure a few of your favourite celebrities are probably Jewish. Whether they’re an athlete, actor, or influencer, they are still big factors of the Jewish community. Right now, I am going to talk about a few Jewish celebrities-Adam Sandler, Montana Tucker, Pink, and Drake.
Up first is Montana Tucker. Montana is a famous, actor, singer, and dancer who is very pro-Israel. She has been a big part of some of the major Israel rallies in the USA. At the 2024 Grammys, a lot of people there were pro-Palestine but she stood out, she wore a dress with a bright yellow ribbon which said “Bring Them Home Now”, a famous quote since the war in Israel started. Montana came to Vancouver on November 17th for Choices, an event for Women runned by the Jewish Federation. This was a major event in the Greater Vancouver Jewish Community as it was one of the first times Jewish celebrities came to Vancouver.
Next up is Adam Sandler. We all know he is Jewish because he wrote “The Chanukah Song”. His family also starred in the movie “You’re So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah” where he played the dad and his daughter was the main character in the movie. Unlike other celebrities, he spoke out about the current war in Israel. He said that he is pro-Israel. Since he is a famous actor, people might follow in his footsteps and support Israel as-well. He is a great actor and a very funny comedian.
Next is Drake. Drake is a Jewish singer, rapper, and songwriter. Drake has been open about his opinion on the current situation in the Middle-East and has said that he believes that the Palestinians and the Israelis should be at peace. He said “I believe all life is sacred, no matter faith or ethnicity and I am against the killing of Palestinian and Israeli civilians.” This shows that he cares about the innocent civilians being murdered and/or being horrasted and taken hostage no matter if they are Palestinian or Israeli. He also said “Believing in both the human rights of Palestinians and the right and need of a Jewish state has meant I have always had friends on both sides. And beyond the physical war, seeing them be pushed into extremism by such acts of violence is distressing. I’m ashamed and devastated by it all.”
Lastly, is the artist P!NK. She is a famous Jewish singer and songwriter known for how she performs in an acrobatic way. After the attacks of October 7th, She said, “Protecting innocent civilian life must remain of utmost priority. No one should celebrate the murder of women and children. Ripping down images ofkidnapped children is ,” She wrote in an Instagram post “The only thing I hate is your hatred. Hatred itself. I pray for all of us. I pray for you.” She has shown strong hatred of Hamas after the attacks of October 7th happened. She said “Palestinians need a solution that honours their aspirations and their humanity. Neither Palestinians and Israelis can exist peacefully under the threat of Hamas.”
In conclusion, there are many celebrities that are Jewish and these are just a few of them. Some of the celebrities that you like can be Jewish and a big factor of the Jewish community. Although they may not have spoken out about the current situation in Israel, they still are an active part of the Jewish community worldwide. Whether they are a dancer, singer, actor, CEO, or athlete, they are still very important and help influence people’s opinions on the Jewish people as well as Israel. It could cause hatred, anti-Zionism, and anti-semetism but it could also causelove, kindness, and better opinions on Israel and the Jewish people. In all, I think Jewish celebrities are really important and are a big factor of the Jewish community.
